Loas - Luang Prabang
Well, there may be a few interruptions in service on Chimp Notes for the next few days. I've come to Loas. Luang Prabang to be precise. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but I'm thuroughly enamered by it.
My friends Colin & Daniel who've been in Chiang Mai for the last few days. And seeing that they had an overabundance of malaria pills and that I was due for a new visa stamp in the next week & 1/2 or so... I decided to tag along.
Sow's talked about wanting to go to Laos for a long as I've known her and I'm sure even longer than that. It's the same structure asThai, but with a few key works that are different. Unfortunaltey two thigs have stood in the way of that. First of all being pregant, secondly our U.S. visa application strongly discourages any internantional travel while waiting, and waiting, and waiting, for the applcation process to ripen.
The dialect in the part of Thailand that she's from is actully the Laos language. Everything I see and hear here makes me think of her. Walkig around today I could hear some women talkng and it sounded exactly like Sow's mom when she's laughing and having a good time. We'll make it here some day. We'll have to wait till next year or longer, but I know she'll just love it.
The next flight out is tuesday, so I'll be back then and I'll post some pics, but it'll be just my witty diatrbe till then.

Did you leave Sow behind? How are you breastfeeding Ray? Oh, is on the bottle now, okay I get it.
So it's Four Boys in Laos! My older brother was in Laos in the 60's I don't think he was as crazy about it then as you are now.
I don't wanna see any pics of Ray in Laos doing things like Evan did... (getting tossed in the air, getting grilled on a BBQ, drinking booze, climbing out of a freezer...) Wait, Yeah...
I guess I do wanna see pictures like that of Ray now that I think of it! Do they have BBQ grills in Laos? Or freezers?
i just got the Globe Trekker with Ian in Thailand. I'm in awe
Yes Sir, Caesar! Globe Trekker rocks! Ian in Thailand is one of the best. I like Ian's style on that show, also that other host, the cute chick with the hot body and baby voice. Nice!
I would much rather hang with the Globe Trekker crew than say that PBS guy, Rick Steves.
Not that I'm speaking for him, but I have heard from Aaron. He is unable to post due to the intense travel situation that he is in. Many of you have contacted me wondering if he's being held hostage.
While his messages were peppered with odd codewords and strange riddles, I feel his captors are treating him fairly.
A man goes through many emotions once he finds himself married and with a child. Trapped. Alone in a new language. The frightening responsibility of fatherhood and caring for another life. Sometimes a man wonders, "what's it all for?"
"Is this all there is?"
"How do I get the word out that Colin & Daniel are dangerous to travel with?"
It's all apart of God's roller-coaster. To test a man. See what he's made of. To question himself, life and those around him. To ask the BIG question that haunts us all:
"What will Dreamworks be like after the sale to Paramount? And what kind of discount can you get on Star Trek stuff at the Studio Store?"
